First impressions matter, right? Everyone knows it. It’s almost a cliché. According to various statistics, judgments are formed in seconds. 7 seconds to be exact. Whether it’s a new client visiting your office for the first time or a prominent candidate coming in for an interview, you want to make sure they see the best your company has to offer.

So why every time I visit offices and discover some horror stories? Indifferent receptionists, unkempt furniture, rotten coffee… This thing is really important as it says everything it has to say about your business. If you really want to grow your business, you need to invest time and energy in getting these details right. Because if you don’t care about first impressions, visitors won’t think you care about anything.

So if you are thinking of ways to make your office a good impression, here are some things to consider.

Smell

Your commercial space should always smell fresh. For better or worse, the smell can be one of the most powerful and memorable senses, and guests will smell your office before they even see it.

It will be difficult to concentrate on work, discuss or attend a meeting when there is a stench around, be it foot odor or the smell of a full-of-trash can. You should notice that it’s also very uncomfortable when the smell in the room is sprayed too fragrant.

Staying organized in a busy office full of staff can be difficult, but sticking to an overall cleaning schedule can make a big difference.

Air purifiers and cleaners should also be cleaned nightly to avoid unpleasant odors. Clean the food preparation area regularly throughout the day and empty and remove waste at the end of each working day.

Carpets

Dirty carpets significantly detract from the appearance of an office. People may not realize it immediately, but carpets that need cleaning can carry unpleasant odors and make your space feel untidy and even dark. And there are some cases where the carpet got wet, and when people ” are not wearing their shoes” step on it, they will find it really uncomfortable and annoying.

Have the service vacuum the carpet daily or as often as possible. Investing in regular professional carpet cleaning can pay off as it not only keeps your business looking great but also helps keep your employees healthy.

Clutter

If you want to make your office a good impression, clutter’s also a thing that you need to keep an eye on. In a busy office, it can be difficult to keep clutter at bay. Looking around your office, do you see piles of papers, boxes, and other office supplies scattered about for no reason?

Being in the office every day, it’s easy to overlook and become blind to the clutter, but if there are customers or visitors who come to your office, they can obviously see the mess. And of course, who wants to visit and cooperate with a company whose work is messy and no one seems to care about it?

Clutter can show that you are running a disorganized business and make you less confident in your ability to provide quality service to your customers.

Try the following:

  • Remove obsolete or irrelevant items and documents.
  • Create a storage solution for the documents you need to keep and give each item a home.
  • Whenever possible, store items where they were used so that items can be easily returned home.
  • Use labels to identify where items are and where they belong, everyone in the office can arrange items around the house and encourage everyone to keep their area clean and tidy.

Furthermore, you can set hygiene rules or punishments for those who intentionally litter or cause public unsanitary. From there, your employees will be more conscious of keeping hygiene, not only in the office but also everywhere.

You – as the manager of the business, can assign cleaning tasks to each department or each person in turn. It could be monthly, weekly, or even daily. Such division of work does not take too much time and effort from everyone, but it also helps your business save a lot of costs and still keep a fragrant, bright and healthy working environment.

Keep your customer coming to your office!

Creating and maintaining a clean and professional environment can help build trust with your current customers and make your office a good impression when it comes to making or losing new business deals. Don’t let the image of your business be negatively affected by these little things.
